Gadael cymynrodd i Amgueddfa’r Rheilffyrdd Bach Cul
Mae ymddiriedolwyr yr Amgueddfa yn ddiolchgar am y cymorth ariannol y mae’n parhau i’w dderbyn. Mae cael arian yn y banc yn helpu’r Ymddiriedolwyr gyda chostau rhedeg o ddydd i ddydd, gan gynnwys cyflogi staff pan fo angen, ac yn caniatáu iddynt gynllunio ar gyfer datblygiadau a gwelliannau i’w chynnal ar gyfer y dyfodol, megis eitemau newydd ar gyfer y casgliad, gwell arferion arddangos a chadwraeth, ac estyn allan yn ehangach i’r gymuned.
Un ffordd dda o gefnogi’r Amgueddfa yw gadael cymynrodd iddi yn eich ewyllys. O dan y gyfraith bresennol, pan fyddwch yn marw, mae eich ystâd yn destun treth o 40% uwchlaw trothwy sy’n hawdd ei gyrraedd os ydych, er enghraifft, yn berchen ar dŷ cyffredin mewn sawl rhan o’r wlad. Mae rhoddion i elusen gofrestredig, fel yr Amgueddfa, wedi’u heithrio rhag treth, gyda’r swm yn cael ei dynnu o werth trethadwy’r ystâd. Gallwch ddewis rhoi swm penodedig o arian, neu gyfran benodedig o werth gweddilliol eich ystâd; mae’r ail o’r rhain yn arbennig o ddefnyddiol gan fod symiau penodol yn colli eu gwerth gyda chwyddiant dros amser. O safbwynt yr Amgueddfa, mae’n well gwneud y rhodd at ddibenion cyffredinol yr Amgueddfa gan ganiatáu i’r Ymddiriedolwyr ei defnyddio er y budd gorau ar yr adeg y’i derbynnir; os yw’n well gennych roi’r rhodd at ddiben penodol, ymgynghorwch yn gyntaf ag Ymddiriedolaeth yr Amgueddfa trwy ei hysgrifennydd (gweler y manylion isod) . Yn yr un modd, ymgynghorwch â’r Ysgrifennydd yn gyntaf os ydych yn ystyried cymynrodd nad yw’n ariannol, fel eiddo neu greiriau hanesyddol.
Os nad ydych wedi gwneud ewyllys eto, dylech ystyried ymgynghori â chyfreithiwr neu gynghorydd proffesiynol arall ynghylch gwneud un. Mae ewyllys yn gwarchod eich teulu ar adeg anodd, ond dim ond tua un o bob tri o bobl sy’n gwneud ewyllys. Mae’n bwysig i’r geiriad yn eich ewyllys gofnodi eich dymuniadau’n glir a bod modd gweithredu’r ewyllys yn gyfreithiol. Leaving a legacy to the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum
The Museum trustees are grateful for the financial support it continues to receive. Having money in the bank helps the Trustees with day-to-day running costs, including the employment of staff when necessary, and allows them to plan for developments and improvements to sustain it for the future, such as new items for the collection, better display and conservation practices, and wider outreach to the community.
A good way of supporting the Museum is to leave it a legacy in your will. Under current law, when you die your estate is subject to tax at 40% above a threshold which is easily reached if, for example, you own an average house in many parts of the country. Gifts to a registered charity, such as the Museum, are exempt from tax, with the amount being deducted from the estate’s taxable value. You can choose to bequeath a defined sum of money, or a defined proportion of your estate’s residuary value; the second of these is particularly helpful since fixed sums lose their value with inflation over time. From the Museum’s perspective it is preferable to make the gift for the Museum’s general purposes allowing the Trustees to use it to best advantage at the time it is received; if you prefer to designate the gift for a specific purpose please first consult the Museum Trust through its secretary (see details below). Similarly, please consult the Secretary first if you are considering a non-monetary bequest, such as property or historic relics.
If you have not made a will yet, you should consider consulting a solicitor or other professional adviser about making one. A will protects your family at a difficult time, but only about one in three people make a will. It is important for the wording in your will to record your wishes clearly and for the will to be legally enforceable.
