Collection Objects
Prior to the World War II, a number of both steam and diesel Orenstein and Koppel locomotives were imported into the UK from Germany. The plate shown is from Orenstein and Koppel 12242 0-4-0, 1930. A contractor’s locomotive originally use on improvement works on the Lake Vyrnwy reservoir, it later served on various sites until scrapped at Piel and Walney Gravel, on Walney Island, immediately off the Lancashire coast at Barrow-in-Furness.
