Talyllyn Railway Locomotives

The 2012 Temporary Exhibition gives an overview of the locomotives of the Talyllyn Railway in words, pictures and items from the museum collection. The main display boards divide the six steam locomotives into three classes: the original Talyllyn engines of 1865, the ex Corris Railway engines and the Barclay engines. A further board details the internal combustion fleet and the display case gives some recently discovered information about the enquiries made by Haydn Jones in 1913 and again in 1945 about the possibility of replacements for the original Fletcher Jennings locomotives.

This exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Revd Dr RT (Dick) France (1938 – 2012) who had been a volunteer attendant and working party member in the museum for some years since moving to the area. He first suggested this subject for the 2012 temporary exhibition.
