Another pioneering electric railway built 140 years ago, though no longer with us in its original form. The Giant’s Causeway and Portrush Electric Tramway opened its first section from Portrush to Bushmills on 29 January 1883, and was completed in 1887. The line closed in 1949. Part of the route was re-opened from Bushmills to Giant’s Causeway in 2002.
